The Declutter Journey of a bathroom.
Do you have half used bottles of shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, gel, partially used make up, over 20 lipsticks etc. Are you ready for a “pretty” bathroom?
Where to begin? Take everything our, sort, categories of high usage vs. low to none, clear the vanity, and start piles of trash, donate, and keep.
Don’t rush out and buy coordinating organizing products before deciding how to use the space better. Use this as a “job well done” reward. Take before, during, and final pictures of the transformation.
The bathroom is a small space. Take everything out of the drawers, cupboards, cabinets, and counter tops.
Group like items, sort by usage, and then keep what you use the most. These should go into the drawers or medicine basket. Use open, clear containers so you can locate high use items easily.
What is expired? Medications, cosmetics, etc. Highlight expiration dates.
Prepackaged gift kits. What haven’t you used? Usually, these unused items pile up in drawers and under the sink. Not to mention all the pretty manicure sets, spa gift bags/baskets, and the container the gift came in. Pick 3 and out go the rest.
Keep the vanity clear by keeping out only toothbrushes, make-up brushes, hand towels, items that need to dry. Place them on a small tray to confine their location. Anything else needs to be put in a drawer or under the sink.
Place overstocked bathroom stuff (shampoo, seasonal makeup, gift containers, cosmetic gift containers, nail files, etc.) in a bag and put it into a bag and place it into another room. If you need a refill then go to the supply bag.
At the end of the month audit what’s left in the bag. Do you really need any of it? Purge and move on.
